Chicken In A Bag

This recipe is on of the entire family’s FAVORITE dishes. Everyone in the house is excited on Chicken In A Bag night, even our picky little Camille. In the Munson house, everyone agrees, the potatoes in this recipe is one the best parts. I usually try to add extra potatoes to avoid squabbling amongst The Sugar Babies! Personally, I think the green beans in this recipe sets a pretty high bar for a standard. I love the flavor in this seasoning mix. It brings out the flavors of the chicken, potatoes, and green beans alike. One can hardly find a plate that hasn’t been cleaned on Chicken In A Bag night!

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Chicken Pieces I use drumsticks but you can use any pieces you prefer. I also prefer bone in for this recipe but you could use boneless.
  • 1 Envelope McCormick's Bag'N Season Original Chicken I actually use 1½ envelopes per pound of chicken, but you do not have to. We just really love the flavor and it helps to coat the vegetables evenly.
  • 1 Can Green Beans
  • 3-4 Medium to Large Potatoes You can use whichever potato you prefer.

Instructions

  • Place chicken in the oven bag that came with your McCormick seasoning packet.
  • Add potatoes to bag.
  • Add Green beans to bag.
  • Sprinkle seasoning mix on chicken and vegetables. Shake slightly to mix.
  • Tie bag closed with enclosed tie.
  • Poke 3 small holes in top of bag with a knife and bake in the oven at 350° for 1 hour or until chicken is done and potatoes can be split easily with a fork.

  1. I love this dish. I made mine in the crockpot like you did but used canned green beans. You used Jolly Green Giant (the critter I saw on the label) green beans instead of fresh this time. So, that’s my guess is that the hidden critter was the Jolly Green Giant. (Ho Ho, Green Giant)! I miss those commercials. : )

  2. I can’t tell if it is a ant, spider or rat on the refrigerator but there also was a small frog looks like on the refrigerator also. It is hard to see that far away lol

  3. Critter on stove handle or dishwasher handle lol. Something on paper towels or tall can by breadboard. Great recipe! Shared

I just run across this recipe. It sure sounds good and I am going to make this for supper. Thanks for sharing Kelly.

  5. I love cooking dinners in a bag. I even cooked our Turkey for Thanksgivings in a bag one year and it was so easy and of course cleanup was easy. I was able to clean up while the Turkey was cooking. That’s how I’ll cook it again when it’s my turn to cook the Turkey!!
I cook roast and chicken in them also!
