🛒 Ingredients for McCormick’s Chicken in a Bag

  • 1 pound chicken pieces (I prefer drumsticks, but any cut works. Bone-in adds extra flavor!)
  • 1½ envelopes McCormick’s Bag’N Season Original Chicken (1 envelope works fine, but I like using extra for more flavor and to evenly coat the veggies.)

  • 3-4 medium to large potatoes (Use your favorite variety.)

🥄 How to Make McCormick’s Chicken in a Bag

  • Prep the Bag: Place the chicken pieces inside the oven bag that comes with your McCormick seasoning packet.
  • Add the Veggies: Toss in the potatoes and green beans, making sure they are evenly distributed around the chicken.
  • Season: Sprinkle the McCormick seasoning mix over the chicken and vegetables. Gently shake or mix everything around to coat evenly.
  • Seal & Vent: Tie the bag closed with the enclosed tie. Using a knife, poke three small holes in the top of the bag to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake: Place the bag on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until the chicken is fully cooked and the potatoes are fork-tender.
  • Serve & Enjoy! Carefully cut open the bag (watch out for steam!) and serve a delicious, no-fuss meal the whole family will love.

❓ FAQs

Can I use boneless chicken?
Yes! Boneless chicken works well, but it may cook faster. Check for doneness at 40-45 minutes to avoid overcooking.

Can I use fresh green beans instead of canned?
Absolutely! Fresh green beans will add a slight crunch. If you prefer them softer, blanch them before adding them to the bag.

How do I store leftovers?
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven at 325°F until warmed through.

Can I make this in a slow cooker?
Yes! Add all ingredients to a slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until chicken and potatoes are tender.

  1. I love this dish. I made mine in the crockpot like you did but used canned green beans. You used Jolly Green Giant (the critter I saw on the label) green beans instead of fresh this time. So, that’s my guess is that the hidden critter was the Jolly Green Giant. (Ho Ho, Green Giant)! I miss those commercials. : )

  2. I can’t tell if it is a ant, spider or rat on the refrigerator but there also was a small frog looks like on the refrigerator also. It is hard to see that far away lol

  3. Critter on stove handle or dishwasher handle lol. Something on paper towels or tall can by breadboard. Great recipe! Shared

I just run across this recipe. It sure sounds good and I am going to make this for supper. Thanks for sharing Kelly.

  5. I love cooking dinners in a bag. I even cooked our Turkey for Thanksgivings in a bag one year and it was so easy and of course cleanup was easy. I was able to clean up while the Turkey was cooking. That’s how I’ll cook it again when it’s my turn to cook the Turkey!!
I cook roast and chicken in them also!
