Old Fashioned Beef Stew

This is one of my favorite dinners! I tend to love good old fashioned and hearty meals. This one never disappoints! Perfect for a cold winter night, this dish is sure to warm you up. If you are a vegetable lover, the carrots and potatoes absorb all the flavor as they cook and will delight any foodie at dinner time.

Old Fashioned Beef Stew

Ingredients
  

  • 1-2 Pound(s) Beef Stew Meat You can cut up a roast also.
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 3 Tablespoons Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning Or To taste.
  • 2 Tablespoons Black Pepper Or to taste.
  • 3 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Cup Red Wine
  • 4 Cups Beef Broth
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 2 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
  • 2 Cups Chopped Onion, celery and bell pepper mix
  • 1 Small Bag of Baby Carrots You can use canned.
  • 3 Large Potatoes Cubed

Instructions
 

  • Season Beef to taste with Pepper and Tony's.
  • Season flour to taste with Pepper and Tony's.
  • Toss beef in flour, coating.
  • Heat oil in a Dutch oven.
  • Brown floured beef in oil and remove.
  • Add onion mixture to oil and cook 3-4 minutes.
  • Add wine and cook another 2 minutes.
  • Add red wine vinegar.
  • Add beef, bay leaves, broth. Cook 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Add potatoes and carrots and cook for 1 hour on low.
    Note: If using canned vegetables, Cook meat mixture for 1 hour then add carrots and potatoes and cook an additional 30-40 minutes
