Cool Whip (for topping)

1 stick butter (softened)

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

3 teaspoons vinegar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup crushed pecans

1 sweetbread pie crust

A rustic setup featuring a bowl of cubed butter and powdered sugar, surrounded by scattered pecans, eggs, and baking ingredients on a wooden table.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy. This step is essential to create a light and creamy base for your pie.

2. Incorporate the Eggs

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This ensures a smooth, cohesive mixture that sets beautifully in the oven.

3. Add Flavorful Touches

Stir in the vinegar and vanilla extract. These add a tangy depth and a hint of warmth to the filling.

4. Mix in the Pecans

Fold in the crushed pecans, distributing them evenly throughout the mixture for a delightful crunch in every bite.

5. Assemble the Pie

Pour the prepared filling into your sweetbread pie crust, spreading it out evenly.

6. Bake to Perfection

Place the pie in a preheated oven at 325°F and bake for 30 minutes. The filling should be set, with a golden hue on top.

7. Cool and Top

Allow the pie to cool completely. Once cooled, add a generous dollop of Cool Whip on top, spreading it over the surface or leaving it as a decorative swirl..

Hi Kelley I’m from Central Calif. I’m now 70 yrs old, My Southern born Grandmother from originally from Tenn. The family came to Calif during the Dust bowl times, when they did with what they had with 10 kids they had to survive. Well she raised me and used to make most of all the old fashioned recipes that you can find in all of those old recipe books. Such as Fried Pies, Goulash, Succotash, and. Ice Milk, like ice cream but hand made without the cream except what cream that was in the milk. She also made me Vinegar Pie. I can almost taste it like it was yesterday made. Your recipe is just about right with hers, but she didn’t put nuts in it. Probably because they were expensive and she probably didn’t have the money to buy them. No the less. It was so goood!!! I’m so glad you posted it on here for everyone! I just Love You, Michael and the Family. I dont often catch you live, but I do watch the replays! You all take Care, and God Bless you, and with Michaels Upcoming Surgery. Btw, I’m the one that has Family in Baton Rouge. My sister-in-law watches you. I told her about you all. But she’s watching from the Balcony lol. Shes kinda quiet! 🙏😘❤
